Stories about Alpine wine and the high-altitude lifestyle surrounding it.

About

Welcome to the Alpine Wine Society! Launched in April 2022 in NYC by two wine-loving sisters, our Substack is home to high-peak bottle recommendations, recipes, travel ideas, art and more. We’re thrilled to have found a lively community of new and experienced Alpinists to share our passion with.

Jawohl!

What is Alpine Wine?

And why would I drink it?

Alpine wine spans four countries — Switzerland, France, Italy, and Austria — and over 20 different types of grapes. They are refreshing, approachable, and stimulate both the palette and the imagination. They’re also wines for any time of the year, from the coldest days in winter to the hottest, most humid moments of August. Most pair beautifully with a diverse range of foods but can also be sipped on their own.
